What is polishing and finishing?
As an apprentice polisher/finisher you will be following a comprehensive training programme which offers training in a variety of skills in the manufacture of polished furniture, Domestic furniture companies manufacture furniture for the home i.e. tables, chairs, cabinets etc.
What training will I receive?
The training covers the use of relevant tools and equipment using modern hand and spray finishing techniques and a range of lacquers, stains and colours. It will also involve you in the preparation of products for staining and sealing before moving on to final coating ready for distribution to the customer
You will reed to be interested in producing work of quality as most companies are working to very high quality standards. Training programmes have been specially produced to enable you to monitor your own personal development and produce the evidence required for you to achieve a National Vocational Qualification.

What qualifications will I get?
On completion of your training programme and a series of practical assessments you will receive a joint City and Guilds and Furniture, Furnishings and Interiors Training Organization, National Vocational Qualification Level II Certificate in assembled Furniture Production on Polishing arid Finishing You may wish to follow the Advanced Apprenticeship route, which includes a Level Ill NVQ and certification in the following Key Skills: Communication, Application of Number, Information Technology, Personal Skills and Problem Solving.
