Friday 17th February
This has been a better week for us as the weather has enables brickwork to continue. As you can see the front tower is now complete and the stair tower is progressing well. We have also completed the pour of the screed for the first floor as well as the reception area. Most of the glazing has been completed and the internal plastering has now also started. We hope to complete the tower next week and continue with internal partitions.
Friday 10th February
Another frustrating week, thanks to the cold weather. We have not been able to carry out any external brickwork around the reception and the stair tower; this is preventing us from completing the roof. However 1st fix is progressing well inside the building, the boilers are now fitted, and electrical cabling is being pulled. All the glazing has now arrived and this will be fitted next week. Most of the internal partitioning is also now is place. Next week will see continuation of the brickwork if temperatures allow as well as installation of the lift.
Friday 3rd February
This week has been a frustration week for us due to the cold weather. We have been unable to do much of the exterior brickwork for most of the week. Inside however first fix is progressing well both in the mill and the new build. We have been unable to finish the screed on the first floor, again due to the cold weather. Most of the window frames are now fitted with only the reception area to complete ready for the glass.
Friday 27th January
We have had another good week with lots of activity on site. The first layer of roofing sheets have now been fitted to the new build. At least now most of the rain is kept out of the building. Brickwork continues to progress well both externally and internally. Internally partitions are now being erected as well as extensive containment for the mechanical and electrical systems. Next week we hope to lay the screed on the first floor as well as start on window frames.
Friday 20th January
This week the weather has not been so good for us. We were unable to progress the exterior wall for 2 days due to cold conditions. It has therefore been a race to complete as much of the exterior walls as possible to enable the roofers to start next week. As you can see there is only the reception end to now finish and so the roofing can start on Monday from the other end. The floor screed in the mill has now been laid and internal block work and partitioning is progressing wall as with the first fix.
Friday 13th January
We have had a good week with the weather this week, with temperatures high enough to not cause any problems. As you will see the external walls on the new build are almost complete ready for the roof to be fitted. Much of the internal block work has now also be complete and so you start to see the room layouts. Considerable progress has also been made with first fix of the mechanical systems. Next week we will complete the final work preparing for the roof and the floor screeds.
Friday 6th January
Work has now commenced for the New Year. As you will see the brickwork is progressing well on the new build as well as internal walls in the mill. We are now to first floor level with the block work on the new build and are pushing to complete this aspect of the work to enable the roof to be fitted. Construction of the lift shaft has commenced in the mill and the first fix for that area has also been started.
Friday 23rd December
We have finally made it to Christmas with the project almost on time. After several long days and nights this week, the floor in the mill and the new build has been laid. They will now have plenty of time to cure during the break. Final flashing is almost complete on the mill so we are 95% watertight. Brickwork continues well and we will see internal walls appearing in the New Year now the floors are down. Well done to everyone working on the project a great effort and we look forward to a fresh start in the New Year.
Friday 16th December
This week has seen the preparation for the casting of the floor slabs both in the mill and the new build. You will see that the first pour has now taken place for the raised access floor of the staff room. Further brickwork has progressed well to make the most of periods when the temperature allowed. Next week we hope to cast the floors in the mill and new build ready for first fix in the New Year.
Friday 9th December
We are still making good progress while the weather is holding. The roof on the mill is almost complete, once this is watertight we can lay the floor slab. You will see on the front that brickwork is progressing well and again work will start on preparation for casting the floor. Block work on the dividing wall is also progressing well and you can now see the windows through into the mill.
Friday 2nd December
The new roof for the mill is now making good progress and this will be on-going work for the next few weeks. Floor preparation is now taking part ready for the poor of the concrete. You will see the bricklayers have now started on the footings for the new build now that the drainage has been complete. Everyone on site is hoping the weather holds out for us as long as possible.
Friday 25th November
As you will now see from the web cam the 1st floor of the new build has been fitted along with the stairs. Work has continued in the mill and the purlins are now fitted along with the guttering ready for the roof. The bricklayers continue working in the mill and have now started construction of the plant room. Next week we will start the roof on the mill and the footings on the new build.
Friday 18th November
During this week we have seen the completion of the steelwork for the new build. Final levelling will take place over the next few days ready for the concrete beams next week for the first floor. Work is also continuing on the mill with final preparation for the roofing contractors next week and completion of the guttering.
Friday 11th November
All the concrete beams for the floor of the mezzanine have now been fitted. For the first time now you are able to walk around the first floor level of the mill. You can already start to feel what a fantastic space it will be to work in. You will now start to see more on the web cam as the steelwork is erected for the new build, this should be completed next week. Additionally work has now started on the mill in preparation for the roof.
Friday 4th November
The steelwork in the mill is almost complete and the glulam beams are in place. You can now really start to see the space in the mill and get a feel as to how it will work. Most of the ground works for the new build are also nearly complete. Next week we will see the delivery of the concrete beams for the mezzanine level in the mill.
Friday 28th October
During the week the steelwork has arrived on site and the erection has commenced. Initially the steelwork for the mezzanine level has been commenced. At the stage most of the work is taking place in the mill and you will therefore not be able to see much on the web cam. The steelwork will continue next week in preparation for the mezzanine floor.
Friday 21st October
This week has seen the completion of most of the foundation pads for the new build as well as the construction of the lift pit. Some of the drainage in the mill has been complete as well as the brickwork to receive the steelwork. The final pads will be cast next week and steelwork will arrive on site. The timber beams have also arrived on site and are now in storage.
Friday 14th October
As you will see on the web cam the brickwork on the dividing wall is progressing week and will be complete in the next few days. This will allow for the steelwork when it arrives on site in a few weeks’ time. Underpinning on the walls is complete and most of the foundation pads in the mill have been cast. Next week we will start work on the footings for the new build part of the project.
Friday 7th October
Demolition is now complete and we have started the re-build. We had a slight set back at the start of the week with the discovery of a well in the middle of the mill, this has now been capped. Most of the concrete footings for the steelwork in the Mill have now been cast. Next week should see the start of the brickwork on the dividing wall.
Friday 30th September
Demolition is now almost complete, the floor and roof of the mill have now been removed and final clear up is being carried out ready for ground works to start next week. Several pieces of steelwork and timber have been salvaged from the mill; these will be used in the manufacture of some new pieces of furniture for the new build.
Friday 23rd September
Well as you can see the offices have now been demolished. Most of the roof of the mill has also been removed just leaving the roof timbers to be taken out next week. These timbers will be removed next week carefully as some will be used in a piece of furniture being commissioned. We anticipate that during next week final clearing of the site will be complete ready for ground works to start.
Friday 16th September
At last we have been given the all clear for asbestos and the demolition can continue. On Thursday we saw the start of the process of removal of the glazing from the workshop roof. You can clearly see this on the web cam. Large plant will arrive on site Monday and we will see the demolition of the offices during the week. Everyone here at Webs will be pleased to see the project moving forward after the delays due to asbestos.
Friday 9th September
This week has seen the continuation of the asbestos strip out. This work is almost complete and final air testing is being undertaken to give us the all clear to continue with the demolition. We hope that you will be able to see real changes on the web cam over the next few weeks and months.
Friday 2nd September
This week there has been little progress while we await licences for further asbestos removal. Several teams will be starting next week which is the final stage before demolition can take place. We are having a few problems with the web cam which we hope to resolve shortly.
Friday 26th August
This week we have seen much of the interior of the buildings stripped out after removal of the link bridge. There is not a lot left inside now except the asbestos which we will continue to remove over the next few weeks ready for demolition of the office block
Friday 19th August
This week has seen the strip out of the offices and workshops ready for demolition. This will continue over the next few weeks. Over the weekend we will be removing the link bridge between Webs and the dance school.
