Prepare For Data Protection Law Change

BACK 19-07-2017

Businesses warned to prepare with one year until data protection law change

Good information handling makes good business sense, and provides a range of benefits. You'll enhance your business's reputation, increase customer and employee confidence, and by ensuring that personal information is accurate, relevant and safe, save both time and money.  The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new law that will replace the Data Protection Act 1998 and will apply in the UK from 25 May 2018. The government has confirmed that the UK’s decision to leave the EU will not affect the commencement of the GDPR.

An updated data protection toolkit for SMEs is on the ICO website, including a new element focussed on getting ready for GDPR. The checklist can help organisations assess their progress in preparing for GDPR.
