Awards Evening 2017…...
A Personal Thank You from all at #teamwebs

Another fabulous night was enjoyed by all at the annual Webs Apprentice Awards Evening 2017. The event was held on Friday the 14th of July, at the Village Hotel in Chilwell. Its purpose was to recognise the achievements of Apprentices & employers across the furniture manufacturing sector.

This is the 3rd year that Webs has celebrated the success of our apprentices & highlighted the contin-ued commitment of our employers and it truly give us great pleasure in holding the awards.

On behalf of everyone at Webs Training Ltd I would like to thank each and every one of you for joining us in celebrating the success of our amazing Apprentices………….Sammy Jones MD

WEBS staff are dedicated to ensuring that all Apprentices have a positive experience during their Apprenticeships at WEBS and watching them grow as individuals both personally and professionally makes our jobs worthwhile. Our recent FE Choices Learner Survey report, which many learners recently responded to, is testament to the fact that our guidance and support throughout the programme is valued and respected by our learners.

The evening started with an opening speech from Sammy Jones, the Managing Director at WEBS, who thanked the board for all their ongoing support and all the employers who invest in the skills and the development of their businesses and offer a fantastic mentoring of their apprentices. A tribute was paid to the apprentices themselves, who aspire to a fulfilling career, and work extremely hard to achieve their apprenticeships and be the best they can be, sometimes from a position of adversity.

Sammy reminded all that WEBS was inspected by Ofsted in March 2017 and retained a grading of ‘Good’ in all areas underpinning and demonstrating WEBS commitment to delivering the highest standard of training and service.

Existing staff warmly welcome the following colleagues to the Webs family:

Joe Bryan (Training Officer for Upholstery and Soft Furnishings),

Aaron Stevenson (Teaching Assistant for Upholstery),

Sean Davey (Training Officer for Wood Machining).

Awards 2017Maggie Throup, Conservative MP for Erewash, kindly agreed to attend the event to congratulate the apprentices receiving recognition. Initially she spoke to those present about the importance of apprenticeships as a real alternative to sixth form or college, the value placed on them by the government and businesses and the need to encourage more women into the traditional trade sectors. Maggie later enjoyed congratulating each apprentice, handing them their individual certificates, awards and prizes. Maggie added “The apprentices were a great credit to themselves and to your organisation and were well deserving of the recognition they received.”

Joe Bryan, who, since his appointment in October of 2016 has taken the lead role of Apprentice Ambassador Co-ordinator welcomed three members of the WEBS Apprentice Ambassadors on stage:

Natalie Colgate, Sewing Apprentice (Welbeck House);

Jaxon Hardwick, Upholstery Apprentice (GSL Upholstery;

Adam Colbert Administration Apprentice (WEBS).

Each gave a heartfelt speech about their own personal experiences of apprenticeships . The Ambassadors have kindly agreed to support the work done in schools and at events to explain to young people the value they place around apprenticeships and opportunities they have had because of them. We look forward to working with them in their ambassadorial role making a positive impact on aspiring apprentices.
