Makita sponsor new tools for WEBS Training

BACK 22-10-2024

WEBS are over the moon to have received brand new tools from Makita, which will be used in the training of our Fitted Interiors Installation apprentices. The donation will mean the learners get to train with the latest in power tool technology, giving them an excellent introduction to the trade.

Makita sponsor new tools for WEBS Training

Rachael Folds-Bell, training officer for Fitted Interiors Installation, is especially looking forward to it. “I’m very excited to be using cutting edge [get it?] tooling. It means the apprentices will be able to train with current industry standard tools, and we will be able to train with tools we have not had at the training centre previously.”

Makita product specialist, Luke Baverstock, has been working with WEBS since the beginning of the year, providing product demonstrations to learners, and understands the importance of having good tools to keep people engaged.

“It is easier and more enjoyable to learn when you are using good tools”. And with the skills gap, it is more important than ever for the trade to be appealing to those yet to join it. “When I finished school, the tools were old and rubbish!”

Rachael adds “when you are using old, heavy tooling for hours on end, it can really take it out of you”

Makita Tools

The wellness of the user is something that Makita have kept in mind – as they have developed tools to support user longevity, health, and safety. Included in the tools WEBS will be receiving is their new M-Class extraction hoover – which cleverly also acts as an extension lead, reducing the number of trailing cables - and a multi-tool with in-built anti-vibration technology (AVT) to protect against hand arm vibration syndrome (HAVS).

WEBS is a not-for-profit organisation, committed only to giving excellent training and supporting the learners and employers we work with. Working in partnership with Makita who support our mission means a lot to all the team and will be greatly appreciated by the apprentices too.

Makita have further plans to support apprentices, where an “apprentice pack” is currently being developed, offering a kit of essential tooling to see them through their course.

A big thank you – we can’t wait to get using them!
