October
October was a fabulous month for WEBS, with the incredibly generous donation from Makita UK of some fantastic new tools to be used by our apprentices. It will make a great difference to the quality of the training given by having the opportunity to use the latest in tooling!

We attended the Young Furniture Makers Exhibition 2024 to see the fantastic achievements in design and production from future furniture makers in the industry. Although WEBS’ apprentices weren’t successful in their submissions this year, already training officer for Timber Trades Craig Martin has lots of ideas to encourage apprentices to push themselves even further for next year’s applications. We can’t wait to see what they come up with!
A brand new cohort of Level 2 Floorlayers completed their first block training week on their apprenticeship journey, whilst we also had a fantastic achievement for Timber Trades. Congratulations to Sam Joesbury, of Whitehead Designs, who completed his apprenticeship in Level 3 Bespoke Furniture Maker with a Distinction.
November
If we thought October was good, November absolutely blew our socks off!
The crowning moment for November was our win at the On The Tools Awards for Training Initiative of the Year 2024. We were all so surprised to win, when we were already so proud to be listed as a finalist – so we were absolutely ecstatic to hear our name called out at the award! A huge thank you again to the organisers, sponsors, and our amazing team who make the magic happen every day!
We also attended the National Apprenticeship Awards as a guest of Wickes, who we proudly support as their training provider for their apprenticeship programme. It was a fabulous night and great to see the success stories of apprenticeships for both companies and apprentices across the country.
For new apprentices we had induction sessions and delivered a special Big Brew session raising awareness of mental wellness and support ahead of Christmas time. This session was also delivered to our on-programme apprentices who were at our training centre to provide as much support as possible to our learners.
Completing this month we had another fantastic Distinction achieved – congratulations to Finn Tatham of Southwest Upholstery on your achievement in your Level 2 Modern Upholsterer apprenticeship.
