New Recruits to the Webs Directorship

The Staff and Directors at Webs Training Ltd would like to extend a warm welcome to its recently appointed Directors. Andrew Mitchell and Nick Crowther both joined the Webs Board in December 2014 as non executive Directors and have since decided to take the plunge and become fully fledged Directors making a valuable contribution to the Webs Training Board.

Andrew left school at the age of 15 and went straight into the family business his father started in 1952. In 1991 Andrew formed Iain James Furniture. The company name is a combination of his two sons Iain and James, and is now run by Iain as Managing Director. The company designs and polishers English made traditional cabinets to exceptional high standards. With the help of a talented designer, Renaissance Studio commenced making bespoke hand-made trimmings in 2000 using 40 year old traditional Swedish hand looms – its main customer base being top end upholstery manufacturers and Interior Designers.
Andrew is still active within the business and is supported by his daughter and two sons. Furniture is his passion, and to some extent, has been his life. Andrew was Chairman of the Long Eaton Guild of Furniture Manufacturers from 1996 to 1998 & 2006-2007, a Director of British Furniture Manufacturers Limited 2006 – 2013, Lay Assistant on the Court of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers in the City of London from June 2001 to March 2004 and was also a member of the Membership Committee.
He has been a member of the Long Eaton Chamber of Trade since 2000, and was instrumental in securing recognition for Long Eaton in 2015 as the centre of excellence in terms of upholstery manufacture within the UK.

Nick Crowther

Nick is an Apprentice trained lifetime mechanical engineer. He is a self employed consultant doing work with turn rounds, mergers and acquisitions. He started out as a service engineer worldwide installing Petro Chemical installations and sugar refinery equipment and subsequently moved into production engineering and management. Some of Nicks many achievements have included building a substantial engineering group spanning twenty years exporting 80% of output to over 80 countries and winning the Queens Award for Export in 1994 including being awarded Exporter of the Year by Nat West and ITV Television. He formed his own group of companies which he sold in 2008 and as well as Nicks vast experience in rebuilding and merging failing company’s he is a business advisor to the Princes Trust , spent 30 years as chairman of Leeds Training Trust (apprentice GTA) and currently Chairman of NLT Training Services in Chesterfield.
